Flashback Friday: The Knickerbockers & The Strangeloves

Happy Friday! Here are two totally classic garage rockers to make you shake and shimmy.

The "I Love You" List

This week has been so busy that I haven't had many opportunities to see what's new and happening out there in the blog-o-sphere! Here are just a couple of things that made me smile this week.

This picture brought a huge grin to my face. What a cutie! And that little dog peeking over her head is adorable. I want to squeeze them. via Miss Moss

Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein are hilarious in Portlandia, the new sketch comedy/TV show on IFC. “Put a Bird On It!” made me laugh SO hard.

I love this post on incorporating beach-themed photography into interior design from Elements of Style. This whole "Winter" thing is getting to be a total drag. I'm cold all the time and bored with wearing a coat every day. I could use a sunnier outlook!

The DJ Kat poster by Luc Melanson would look great hanging on the wall above my stereo!

Even More: Warpaint

My friend Cathy makes a "Best Of..." CD mix at the end of each year and quietly mails them out to her close pals without fanfare. They never disappoint. This year's mix came in the mail this week and includes this tune from Warpaint. One I'd never heard before. It sounds like padding around the house in socks and a t-shirt on a lazy Sunday. Or sitting in the shade of the porch on a warm Spring day. Basically, an instant fave.

Crush: Laura Flook

I have a bit of a girl crush on Laura Flook. She's a mortician turned model turned fashion designer. Her collections are heavily influenced by feminine 18th century styling - high Victorian collars, lace and lots of tiny buttons. And she's kind of a total hottie. Her on-line shop is here. via refinery29

Tuesday Tunes: Unnatural Helpers

This LP, Cracked Love & Other Drugs, has been getting a lot of play in my house lately. Here are the Unnatural Helpers from Seattle with their videos for She Was Your Girlfriend and a live version of Sunshine/Pretty Girls.

Flashback Friday: The Queen of Soul

Here are two great clips of a young Aretha Franklin showing us exactly why she's known as the "Queen of Soul." What a voice! Oh, and she's adorable, too.

Tuesday Tunes: Fergus & Geronimo

I've been meaning to pick up the new Fergus & Geronimo LP from Hardly Art, but in the meantime here's a video (via Pitchfork) to hold me over.

The "I Love You" List

This week, I loved seeing an interview with Mac and Laura of Superchunk, one of my all-time favorite bands, on one of my favorite design/lifestyle blogs. via Design Sponge

I’m staggered by the genius of Great Showdowns. You've gotta check it out. It's almost too good.

I love, love, love these postcard options for mailing to faraway friends and loved ones. These stitching postcards are pretty spiffy. They’re available at Uncommon Goods. via Cool Hunting

And these It’s Not That Far postcards rule. They come as single cards or in sets. I recently purchased one from Rar Rar Press on Etsy to send to my bestie in San Francisco. She loved it.

Flashback Friday: Sunnyboys & The Church

Here are two great '80s gems from Oz. The Sunnyboys and The Church - two of my faves! I never get tired of these songs.
