Flashback Friday: Lookout!

Here's a classic clip of The High Numbers (AKA The Who) live at the Railway Hotel in 1964. I love seeing the fancy footwork of all those fine mod dudes. Yup, I'm feelin' this song and can't wait for my Friday night to begin - let the dancing commence! I'm going to see NoBunny tonight and will be at the Missing Monuments/Paul Collins show tomorrow night - a full weekend of rock 'n roll!

Gonerfest is coming soon! This year marks the international music festival's eighth annual event, hosting more than 35 bands in three days in Memphis, Tn - September 22 through 25, 2011. Mark your calendar! San Francisco's Icky Boyfriends and '60s garage legends The Alarm Clocks (Ohio) are among the first bands to be announced as part of this year's line up. Woot!

I think it’s safe to say I’ve always been somewhat obsessed (ok, like, definitely obsessed) with paper products, stationery and office supplies. Since I was a kid! Over the past year I’ve been finding myself perusing the same few website frequently. Checking back almost weekly to see what's new. They're sites that offer paper products that are unique and attractive, that you can’t find at the local MegaOfficeMart. Here are a few that I love from around the globe.

I am particularly fond of this Species Flowchart and "Wanted" poster from 826DC available from their storefront, The Museum of Unnatural History. 826DC is the Washington, D.C. counterpart to 826 Valencia in San Francisco - they're both non-profit organizations committed to encouraging students to develop their writing skills. The greatest! They also have a host of other lovely prints and products by graphic designer Oliver Munday.

Flashback Friday: Sugar Pie DeSanto & Barbara Lynn

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today, so here are two of my all-time favorite soulful ladies from two of my all-time favorite cities - Miss Sugar Pie DeSanto from San Francisco and Miss Barbara Lynn from New Orleans.

Peter, Paul and... Me!

The other night's show at the Hi Tone was amazing fun. I am such a huge fan of both Peter Case and Paul Collins, you can't even imagine. I love everything they've done. The Nerves, The Breakaways, The Plimsouls, Peter's solo stuff, The Beat... Wow! They are totally my pretend boyfriends (PBFs!). It was amazing to see them perform a few old Nerves songs together. 

When I asked them to pose with me for this picture after the show, Peter said, "Whoa! A picture with us, together? Yeah! You get in the middle and be Jack Lee." My heart just about leaped out of my chest.
